About this work
This open book spread shows two dark purple flowers rendered in soft washes on the left page and a branch of pink blossoms on a grey stem on the right, with a handwritten inscription and seal-like marks. The work is a sketchbook page attributed to Ariyoshi Kondo, dated 1826-1840, and is held by the Portland Art Museum.
