About this work
A chromolithographic political cartoon from 1883 by Friedrich Graetz shows a gilded armored knight on a golden horse charging with a lance against a barefoot worker on a dark horse. The knight's machine is labeled Monopoly, and the lance tip reads Subsidised Press, while the worker's hammer is labeled Strike and his hat reads Labor. Wealthy onlookers under a canopy marked Reserved for Capitalists watch above a large crowd.
