About this work
A colored political caricature shows a towering white-bearded figure in a dark suit crouching over a village, with a teacher and an armed man standing in his enlarged palms. On the right, a uniformed soldier and several local figures in traditional dress and headwear look on from beneath a tree. Udo Keppler's print is dated 1901.
