About this work
A Japanese woodblock print from the series Tsukioka Yoshitoshi produced between 1885 and 1892, titled Sumiyoshi full moon. A pale, bearded spectral figure in flowing white robes hovers above a seated man in a brown floral-patterned kimono and turquoise hakama, who bows his head over a folded paper on a wooden veranda. A lantern and a dark railing frame the dim nocturnal interior.
