About this work
A hand-coloured engraved print shows a standing man in 17th-century dress, with a yellow doublet, red breeches, embroidered pink sleeves, a blue sash, a cane, a sword and a black hat with a white plume. The caption identifies the sitter as Sir Thomas Wharton, English lord, 1638-40, after Antoine Van Dyck, and the print is attributed to Raphaël Jacquemin, dated 1869.
