About this work
A monochrome drawing with touches of warm red and ochre shows an industrial construction site, with timber scaffolding climbing a steep slope and tall poles rising against a hazy sky. Labourers strain in the lower foreground beside a glowing fire, while a winged or reclining allegorical figure floats among clouds above a curved arch. Ontwerp wandschildering te Rotterdam, by Huib Luns, dated c. 1908 to c. 1917.
