About this work
A watercolor and pencil costume design shows a woman dressed as a nurse, wearing a white veil with a red cross, a blue bodice with white straps and a red cross, a white pleated skirt with pockets, and blue stockings. She holds a folded paper in one hand against a soft green wash of ground. The sheet is inscribed 'The Nurses' at top and signed Will R. Barnes, dated 1921 to 1922.
