About this work
A watercolor costume design shows a woman in a bird costume with a green parakeet-style headdress with red and yellow crest, scaled green wings, and a short green and yellow feathered skirt over gray tights. The sheet is inscribed "Birdland" at top and signed "Will R. Barnes" with the date 1919 and the number 165 at bottom left. The soft lavender wash behind the figure frames the design.
