About this work
A watercolor and pencil costume design titled Angel Cake, signed by Will R. Barnes and dated 1923 - 1924. A figure with red curled hair, a silver halo and small silver wings emerges from the top of a pale cake-shaped skirt, wearing a silver beaded tunic and fringed hem. The soft blue wash behind the figure sets off the stylized, theatrical pose.
