About this work
A costume design sketch titled Blues-Girls by Will R. Barnes, dated 1912 to 1924, shows a female performer in a blue and cream checkered dress with gold trim, a blue ruffled collar, blue wrist cuffs, and a tall hat topped with white and blue plumes. She holds a wand with a dangling ball and wears blue stockings and pointed shoes. The gouache and pencil rendering is set on a warm beige paper with the designer's address and initials written at the lower left.
