About this work
A costume design sketch in watercolor and gouache shows a female performer in an elaborate feathered headdress of red, yellow, blue and purple plumes. She wears a bodice decorated with large red poppy-like flowers, a fringed skirt with beaded detailing, a green beaded sash and green shoes. The sheet is inscribed with the artist's name, Will R. Barnes, and a New York address, and is titled Oriental, dated 1919 - 1920.
