About this work
A fine-line etching shows a standing woman in a long, loosely wrapped robe with a wide collar, set within a rectangular border of stylized leaves and blossoms. The figure is rendered with minimal contour lines and an elongated, simplified face beneath a close-fitting cap. The work is titled La Persane, made by Henri Matisse in 1914 as a print.
