About this work

A pictorial map of central London rendered in a stylized isometric manner, with buildings drawn as dark blue blocks and theatre names such as Wyndham's, Daly's, the Lyric and the Apollo labelled across the streets. Trafalgar Square with its column, the Thames embankment with sailing ships, and small caricatured figures appear along the margins within a striped decorative frame. The work is titled London Theatreland, is attributed to MacDonald Gill, and is dated 1915.
