About this work
This illustrated travel map of Japan presents a humorous, cartoon-style view of the country, with a giant octopus, fish, bears, cranes, and figures traveling along routes marked by stations. Ships sail the surrounding blue sea, and small inset panels show regional produce and scenes. The print is dated 1925 and is attributed to Inoue Seiji.
