About this work
This triptych woodblock print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, dated 1845, shows three figures in elaborate costumes against a pale ground. A central woman in a red and black patterned kimono with floral motifs and striped sashes is flanked by a man in a green robe holding a red lacquer tray and a man in a patterned grey-brown robe with bird and flower designs. Cartouches with calligraphy appear at the top of each panel.
