About this work
A colour lithograph in the series Wandbilder für den Anschauungs- und Sprachunterricht shows a man in a fur-trimmed cap and blue apron splitting wood on a snowy day. A large axe stands upright in a stump in the foreground, while a village of half-timbered houses and bare trees stretches behind. The work is attributed to W. Crüwell and dated 1888.
