About this work
A colored lithographic print titled Ulan by W. Crüwell, dated 1888, shows a mounted soldier in a dark blue uniform with orange facings and a spiked helmet, holding a lance with a black and white pennant. The horse is brown with a white blaze, set against a pale sky, a winding dirt road, a thatched cottage and rocky ground.
