About this work
Felix Elssner's 1904 print Fisherman shows several men at work on a river, one cleaning fish on a board and another smoking a pipe beside a large hanging net. Wooden boats, baskets of catch and a woman on the left frame the scene, with a village and other figures visible in the distance under a warm, hazy sky.
