About this work
A color print by Paul Hey from 1910 titled The Town Musicians of Bremen, showing a donkey, dog, cat and rooster climbing atop one another to burst through a window into a tavern. Startled men in hats scatter, one clutching his head amid shattered glass, while a lantern hangs above a table with a meal and bottles. Stylized Art Nouveau borders frame the scene, with a smaller forest vignette below showing the animals and a fleeing figure.
