About this work
A gouache and chalk drawing on dark paper shows a procession of anthropomorphic roosters and hens in period clothing, some in ruffled costumes and one carrying an object on a tray. Lanterns on tall posts and dark vertical streaks suggest a nighttime street setting. The work is attributed to Lon Landau and dated 1938.
