A figure in a long, flowing blue robe with wide sleeves and ruffled hem stands centered against a black ground, rendered in gouache or pastel with white highlights. To the right, a dark shadowy figure with a plumed or swirling head extends a hand toward the central figure. The work is titled Engel and dated 1937, attributed to Lon Landau.
