About this work
Pierre Bonnard's 1897 color print Le canotage shows a river scene with rowers in boats and figures relaxing on a grassy bank beneath trees. The loose, sketchy lines and layered green, brown, and blue tones suggest sunlit water and a distant town skyline. The work is catalogued as a print from the Portland Art Museum collection.
