About this work
An allegorical drawing in grey wash and white highlights shows classical figures, including Mercury and Minerva, within a large circular medallion supported by two sphinxes. A central oval vignette depicts a farmer plowing a field, and a cameo portrait appears below. The lower panel carries the dedicatory text "Les trésors de la paix" to the Comte de Vergennes, created by Jean Guillaume Moitte in 1784.
