About this work

A sepia wash drawing shows a classical interior where a seated queen in a drapery-lined hall receives an ashes-filled vessel from attendants, while a framed rendering of a stepped pyramidal tomb appears at left. The lower section carries a long French text describing the Mausoleum and its architecture. The work is attributed to Jean Jacques Lequeu and dated 1792.
