About this work

This hand-colored architectural elevation shows the interior of a grand audience hall, with a throne set beneath a pink canopy flanked by Ionic columns and seated statues. A coffered dome and a painted cloud scene with a winged figure rise above, and handwritten French annotations label the parts of the design. The work is attributed to Jean Jacques Lequeu, dated 1777-1825.
