About this work
A watercolor stage design maquette showing a row of tall, slender tree trunks rising from a strip of green grass against a pale yellow sky. The trunks are rendered in layered brown washes with textured bark marks and touches of pink, and a few bare branches extend into the open space. This is the forest scene, ninth tableau, from Gaston Baty's 1932 design for Bifur.
