About this work
A lithographic print in bright colors showing small, whimsical brownie figures at play in an outdoor winter landscape, with bicycling, skating, a steam engine, and a steamboat labeled Water Witch. The scene is framed by a yellow sky, bare trees, and a distant house, and a large red-and-white toy-like structure dominates the upper right. The print is titled The Brownie's Playground and was produced by Thomas & Wylie in 1896.
