About this work

This hand-colored engraved plate shows a large circular diagram of the Moon's motion, with multiple epicycles, eccentric orbits, and lunar phase illustrations arranged around a central Earth. A ring of zodiac signs frames the composition, and cherubs and putti decorate the corners with banners bearing the Latin title. The plate is by Andreas Cellarius, dated 1660.
