About this work
A hand-colored celestial chart of the Northern Hemisphere shows constellations as mythological figures and animals arranged within a circular zodiac band. Putti in the corners hold banners and draw back clouds, framing the star-filled sky. This 1660 print by Andreas Cellarius presents the northern heavens in the style of his celestial atlas.
