About this work
A hand-colored engraved diagram by Andreas Cellarius, dated 1660, showing the heliocentric universe with a face-bearing sun at the center surrounded by elliptical planetary orbits. Small terrestrial globes mark the planets' positions, and the zodiac band encircles the composition, framed by allegorical figures and winged putti holding banners.
