About this work
This etched and engraved print by François Boucher depicts the myth of Vertumnus and Pomona, with a disguised old woman holding a mirror beside a standing young woman who rests against a stone pedestal of fruit. Two cupids float on a cloud above, and a garden setting with plumed foliage and a vase of flowers surrounds the scene. The composition is framed by a decorative rococo border with garlands and ribbons.
