About this work
An allegorical composition shows a group of nude and draped female figures and playful putti gathered beneath an apple tree, with a lute player seated at left. On the right, a winged figure descends with a laurel wreath beside discarded armor, shields, a helmet and reclining warriors, while a red banner rises amid smoke. The painting is attributed to Antoon Willemsens, dated 1649, and is held by the Musée du Louvre.
