About this work
This pen and ink drawing with grey wash shows a military scene in which soldiers in tall shakos and white uniforms stand in ranks in the foreground while mounted cavalry rides at left. A town with a domed church and a spired church lies beyond, with smoke rising over distant troops, and numbered keys are inscribed across the sheet.
