About this work
This 1838 watercolor by Balthasar Wigand shows a large military church parade on an open field before the Lerchenfelder Linie, with ranks of infantry and mounted officers arranged across the grounds. A crowd of civilians in period dress watches from the foreground, while a church steeple and town buildings rise beyond the field under a range of hills.
