About this work

A loosely rendered head and shoulders of a man with a dark mustache, a bare forehead and dark hair at the sides, set against an ochre-olive wash. Pale face planes contrast with dark brushed accents and red-pink touches on the ear and lips, with the outlines of the shoulders and collar sketched in graphite.
