About this work

A graphite drawing on grey paper shows a nude winged putto floating in an open pose, lifting a cluster of grapes with vine leaves in one raised arm and holding a stemmed drinking cup in the other. The circular format and soft shading give the figure a sculptural quality. Moritz von Schwind created this work in 1847, and it is held by the Städel Museum.
