A pen and ink drawing on paper shows the Virgin Mary seated and holding the Christ Child on her lap, with the child's legs and arms gently posed. Heavy draped robes with hatched shading fill the lower half of the composition, and a faint blue wash appears in parts of the drapery. This Drawing by Raphael, dated 1500, is held by the Städel Museum.
