About this work
This pen and brown ink drawing with brown wash and white highlights shows a seated woman in flowing drapery facing a standing man who holds out a chain or cord toward her. Two small children sit and crouch at the lower right beside a basket, and loose sketched forms appear in the upper left. The work is by Jacob de Wit and is held by the Städel Museum as a drawing.
