About this work
This brown ink and wash drawing depicts the Annunciation, with a kneeling angel addressing the Virgin Mary, who stands beside a lectern beneath a curtain. Radiating light and small cherubs in clouds appear above, and the composition is rendered in warm sepia tones. The work is attributed to Jacob de Wit and held by the Städel Museum.
