About this work

A hand-coloured aquatint shows a crowded exhibition room with densely hung framed paintings covering the walls, including tilted rows near the ceiling. Elegantly dressed visitors in Regency-era costume stroll, converse, and sit on green benches beneath arched windows. The print is by Thomas Rowlandson and was published in 1800 as part of Ackermann's Repository.
