About this work
This engraved portrait shows a man in profile facing left, wearing a powdered wig with curled side rolls and a white cravat collar. He is set within an oval medallion beneath a carved ribbon bow, with the name I:A:HERMES inscribed on the plinth below. The print is signed by Daniel Nikolaus Chodowiecki and dated 1787 in the lower margin.
