About this work
A reclining nude woman is rendered in loose charcoal and red chalk, with the torso turned toward the viewer and the legs extending diagonally across the sheet. The soft grey shading behind and beneath the figure suggests a ground or setting. This drawing by Leo Gestel dates from 1891 and is held by the Rijksmuseum.
