About this work
A peacock with its tail fanned out is rendered in white linework against a black ground, surrounded by climbing vines and white blossoms. Small yellow flowers and dandelion-like plants accent the composition, which is bordered in yellow. This print by Theo van Hoytema is dated 1877 and is held by the Rijksmuseum.
