About this work
This etching shows a standing figure with a halo raising both hands while preaching to a crowd gathered around a raised stone platform in an arched interior. Seated and kneeling figures, including a mother with a child at the lower right, are arranged around the central figure, with a bright opening in the background. Rembrandt van Rijn made this print in 1657, and it is held by the Rijksmuseum under the title Christ preaching ('La Petite Tombe').
