A large history painting shows a crowd of Roman citizens in togas and tunics gathered before a stone pedestal inscribed SPQR, topped by a bronze-toned statue of a she-wolf nursing twins. In the foreground, a standing man in a white tunic and red cloak raises a dagger beside a fluted column, while a body lies on the steps and grieving figures surround it. The painting is by Casto Plasencia, dated 1877, and is held in the Museo del Prado.
