About this work
This etching shows the interior of a Gothic church, with a tall pointed arch framing a dim nave and a pale, glowing chapel beyond. A lancet window, a candelabra and an altar area are visible, and a bench and sack rest in the foreground on a flagstone floor. The work is signed in pencil by Jean-Jules Dufour and numbered 28/50 in the margin.
