About this work
A hand-colored caricature from the weekly La Caricature, number 481 dated 16 March 1889, shows a domestic interior with a seated woman in a lilac dress trimmed with playing-card motifs, a standing woman in a fur-trimmed coat and feathered hat, and a seated man in a red robe patterned with stars. The title Economie domestique appears above the image, credited to Albert Robida, and a caption in French comments on repurposed costumes.
