About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon shows a man in a dark suit standing on steps marked U.S. Treasury, holding a sword inscribed Sound Money Policy. Facing him is a many-headed serpent with bearded figures in hats, its coils labeled Silver, Free, and Craze, while a distant Capitol dome and industrial landscape appear behind. The print is credited to Louis Dalrymple and dated 1895.
