About this work
A hand-colored lithographic caricature shows a woman in a pink plaid gown and feathered hat seated on a green park bench, holding a bulldog wearing a collar labeled income tax. A white-bearded older man in a blue coat and red-and-white striped trousers sits beside her, reaching toward the scene, with a top hat and cane resting nearby. Charles Jay Taylor made this print in 1894, and the banners and sashes reading Tariff Reform and Wilson Bill are visible on the figures.
