About this work
A 1947 advertising print by the Dow Chemical Company shows a hand rising from churning sea foam, lifting a large embossed block labeled MAGNESIUM that bears a stylized winged eagle. Beneath the scene, body text and a Dow Magnesium Division logo promote the metal as America's only unlimited source of metal, drawing on the sea as its inexhaustible supply.
